Arithmetic Reasoning and Mathematics Knowledge measure different kinds of math. Word Knowledge and Paragraph Comprehension combine into the verbal component.
Why practice estimates change
A small number of questions can create large swings. Difficulty, subject balance, guessing, and repeated exposure all affect an unofficial estimate. Use a range and a growing evidence count instead of treating one number as a guarantee.
What to improve first
Start with the lowest well-measured AFQT subject. If a subject has few answers, build a baseline before labeling it a weakness.
